Summary
In one of the world’s largest wine growing areas, every year some vineyards have to be uprooted, because of their advanced age, disease or other reasons. These trunks will afterwards be burnt in place, liberating large amounts of CO2. Students are challenged to find alternatives that would make this process more sustainable by integrating the waste trunks into a circular economic process. The LS closes with an extrapolation of this special case towards a general design concept.
